Moving? Know Your Rights & Responsibilities "Before" You Move in Conroe, TX

TXDot requires all Movers to be registered and insured to be legal and operate in the state of Texas. If you see a moving ad too good to be true it probably is. To be legal they must have their TXDot#, USDot# & physical address listed in their ad. Then you can go to Texas Department of Transportation and check them out. You can see if they are Active, Revoked or Never bothered to register with the state which is illegal. You have no recourse if you cannot find them or the state doesn't know who they are! Requirements are $750,000 in libility insurance Form E and $25,000 per truck load in cargo insurance minimum Form H & I. This cost money and so that is why a real mover with enclosed trucks charge a fair price compaired to the unbelievable prices you may see elsewhere. A mover in the state of texas must present a contract BEFORE they start the move and it must be for a pre agreed exact price or hourly for an exact amt per hour for the amt of men working. Why am I telling you all this? Simple, because illegal movers make people afraid of Good Movers. If an uninsured moving truck is caught it will probably be held even if your belongings are inside by the police authority that has stopped it because Big trucks on Texas roads cause major accidents and severly hurt people if they are not registered and checked by the state. A printable flyer is available @ Texas Department of Transportation under Household Movers. Read it, be informed and educated. "Your rights and Responsibilities BEFORE you move in the State of Texas" I have no problem with someone moving a few pieces or for a friend but when it's something valuable or "everything you own" be smart & be informed. Hope this helps someone!
